Eye of the Storm

IMG_1522edit

It's hard to believe that Tyler has just celebrated his second Easter. We spent the weekend with my parents in Eastpoint at my grandma's house, the Eye of the Storm. Tyler loved being there with his grandparents and his "Gigi". He definitely knew her and would point at her and say "Hi Gigi!" She loved it. Buster came with us and had a great time being outside all weekend. Tyler now refers to him by name: "Buh-Buh".

The weekend was so relaxing, but we had some rough times too. The first night we were there, Tyler started throwing up. The next day, he seemed off but he wasn't getting sick. Then Saturday night he started vomiting again, about every half hour. He finally stopped when I held him on my lap for over an hour while he slept. FYI: He never lets me hold him like that. Again, he seemed better on Sunday, but then on Sunday night it started again. At about 12:30am, I called the on call nurse and taking her advice, we threw everything in our car and drove the hour and half trip home to the TMH Emergency Room. Tyler didn't end up needing fluids, so we were sent home after a few hours. He's not vomiting anymore, but he is extremely lethargic and he's not eating much at all. He's finally drinking fluids though, which is the most important thing. It's strange to have him lying around and being snuggly because he's usually so active.

They gave him Gatorade in the ER, so the next day we were trying to encourage him to drink and Matt clapped for him after his first sip. Then, after every sip he took for the rest of the day, Ty would clap for himself.

Anyway, on Friday Tyler had fun on the deck playing in the hose.

On Saturday, we took Tyler to the Estuarine Reserve.

After having lunch at Papa Joe's, Tyler took his afternoon nap and we just relaxed, talked and read books on the deck. Seriously, this place is Heaven.

Saturday night, my parents stayed with Tyler while Matt and I ventured out to Boss Oyster for dinner in Apalachicola, and then to Harry A's on St. George Island for a beer and some live music. It was wonderful, but I had no idea I'd be up with a sick baby all night. I was pretty tired the next day.

Easter Sunday was family-filled. My aunt, uncle and three cousins came over for Easter dinner. It was so good to be with family all afternoon. When they left, we set up an Easter egg hunt for Tyler. We weren't sure if he'd catch on, but grandpa only had to show him what to do once or twice before he was searching the yard for more eggs, and dropping them in his basket.

The rest of the weekend was spent walking on the dock, lying in the hammock, exploring the yard's treasures (like boats and crab traps) and watching sunsets. "Eye of the Storm" is the perfect name for this property because it truly is the perfect place to get away from the chaos of every-day life and bask in the peaceful feelings that come from just being there.
