Baptism

Tyler was baptised at Wildwood Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 27th, by Bob Evans, the senior pastor. This was very meaningful and we were thrilled to have Bob perform the baptism because of our immense respect and love for him. The Laubs, the Adams, the Mayfields and cousin Pat were able to be there since they were in town for my cousin Colleen and Tai's wedding. It was a special day and we enjoyed lunch with the Laub and Adams families after church.





Colleen and Tai were married at Good Shepard on Saturday, June 26th. It was a beautiful Mass and I know it was special for them to have newly ordained Father Mike (Tai's brother) marry them. I have always been very close to Colleen and our cousin Lindsay. Now we are all married and we have all been in eachother's weddings.

I LOVE my cousins!

Tyler is continuing to scoot all over the apartment. He goes from room to room, getting into EVERYTHING. He loves wires, Buster's water bowl, cell phones, and anything else he's not supposed to have. He has cut two teeth (both bottom, center). He has been sitting up much better and can sit for a few minutes at a time now.


Ty has two different types of whines right now. One is (I hate to say) a girly, high pitched whimper. The other involves sticking his tongue out, making a nuh-nuh-nuh or a muh-muh-muh sound.

He is sleeping between 10-12 hours every night. For about a month, he was going to bed around 7pm and waking up between 5 and 5:30. I've recently started to put him down around 6:30 and he has been sleeping past 6am. It's wonderful! I actually have time to myself in the evenings once he's asleep (After washing the dishes, cleaning up the kitchen, taking the trash out, straightening up the apartment, getting his food and bottles ready for the next day, folding laundry, making his baby food, taking Buster out and feeding him, and making and eating my dinner.).

Just so I can remember this later, this is his typical schedule right now (within the hour):

6am: Wake time, 4 ounce bottle, 2 ounces fruits, 2 scoops grains
8am: Nap #1
9:30am: Up from nap, 4 ounce bottle
11:30am: Nap #2
1pm: Up from nap, 4 ounce bottle, 2 ounces fruits, 2 ounces vegetables
3pm: Nap #3
4:30pm: Up from nap, 4 ounce bottle, 2 ounces fruits, 2 ounces vegetables
6:15pm: Bath
6:30: 6 ounce bottle, Bed time

This is a much more manageable schedule than about 6 months ago when it was: Nurse for (at least) 45 minutes (at least) 8 times each day, nap whenever he felt like it for as long as he felt like it, slept for about 2 hours at a time during the night, and diaper changes about 10 times each day. I didn't think I'd survive it, but here I am!

Tyler has a tooth!

The first tooth came in a couple of weeks ago (bottom, left), and his next one is about to break through (bottom, right). He has been a little fussy, but is handling it well.

Tyler is now into EVERYTHING and is ALL OVER the apartment. He is pulling his little body from room to room, grunting all the way. He is even sometimes attemping to get up on his knees. Sometimes he'll get all the way up, sway from side to side, and then fall over.

When Tyler turned 6 months, we started feeding him vegetables and fruits. I am making his baby food, which I'm really enjoying (well, the fruits can be quite frustrating) because I like knowing I'm giving Tyler the best thing possible. The only thing he has adamantly rejected so far has been peas. This child would NOT stop gagging, and he would shiver in disgust. So, I'm going to hold off on trying peas again for a few weeks. I'm not positive that he is crazy about pears, but everything else he has liked so far: sweet potatoes, acorn squash, butternut squash, apples, and bananas. Today, I bought a bunch of new fruits and veggies to try, so we'll see how that goes.

Matt has been working a lot (THANK YOU, SCROGGY!), so last weekend Tyler and I drove over to Ponte Vedra Beach to meet up with my parents. He is not handling car trips very well anymore, but we made it! It was SO fun and very relaxing. My parents graciously gave us our own room and they let me sleep in each day. It was wonderful! We took Tyler to the beach for the first time. He cried a little, but after that he just seemed very serious. We took him in the pools too; He liked to splash in the pool and watch the other kids (I mean STARE. It's a good thing kids don't feel uncomfortable by staring babies.). Thank you, Mom and Dad, for a wonderful weekend at the beach!

This weekend, my mom was in Eastpoint visiting my Grandma. So, we took another trip over there just for Friday night. We came home on Saturday afternoon. Again, I was able to sleep in which was MUCH appreciated. We took Tyler downtown Appalachicola, went to some shops, and had lunch. I loved taking him there because that place means so much to me. My mom bought him a baby pool, which we tried out. All Tyler seemed to care about was the leaf floating around in the pool, but it was still cute!

We also got a new car this week! We traded in our 2009 Honda Civic for a 2006 Honda CRV. When we purchased the Civic, we had no idea how much space we would need when Tyler arrived. I love the new car; It's so much more convenient.

Today was Matt's first official Father's Day. Tyler and I let him sleep in while we went to The Fresh Market to pick out some rib eye steaks, his favorite mashed potatoes, and some things to make a salad. When we came home, Matt woke up to Tyler chewing on his gift - FIFA Soccer 2010 for PS3. When Tyler went down for a nap, Matt and I had a nice lunch together. Matt had to work this evening, but I'm glad we got to spend time with him today. He is the hardest working person I know and I am SO thankful for him and all he does for us. He's an amazing father and I am so grateful for him. And, of course, Tyler was wearing this Star Wars onsie today in honor of his Dad (this picture is from a few months ago):


I think he definitely takes after his dad.

It's hard to believe that my baby boy is almost 7 months old. How did this happen?!
