Catching Up

A lot has been going on since I last posted on this blog. I had a weekend away to Jacksonville with Tyler and my oldest girlfriends, our family took a long weekend trip to New Orleans, and we moved to a larger place. Also, I've had a few computer issues so I wasn't able to upload photos for a while. Anyway, I'm hoping to be better about posting.

Tyler and I drove to Jacksonville to meet up with Jenn, Corrie and Jessica. We try to get together a couple times per year, but I know it's becoming less frequent as our lives become more complicated. It was great to see them. We had to work around Tyler's schedule, so we goofed around in the hotel room, ate (a lot...They were also on a sick, hungry, pregnant woman's schedule), went swimming, and spent a little time at The Landing on the riverfront. Tyler was pretty whiny and needy of his mommy, but he did pretty well.

We also took a family trip to New Orleans in July. We had never been there before and it wasn't like what we expected/had seen in movies. What a wild city! We had a great time people watching and sight seeing on Bourbon Street and many other areas, and trying new food which neither of us were crazy about (except for the beignets!).

We visited City Park which had a really cool playground called "Story Land". (Excuse the not-so-great pictures...I was using my older camera.)

City Park also had a small amusement park. He got to ride a carousel for the first time and he loved it. He kept looking for his daddy, and when he'd see him he would laugh.

Matt really wanted to take Ty on the Tilt-A-Whirl and Tyler acted like it wanted to go on it. So, I was really nervous that once it started Tyler would freak out, but he LOVED it! It was awesome. He was laughing hysterically the entire time.

Having so much fun!

We also walked through Jackson Square where Tyler performed a little:

We took Tyler to the Insectarium, which was pretty cool but I didn't get any pictures there. We also went to the Aquarium. Tyler loved it at first. He was running all over the place yelling, "Fish! Fish!" Then after a little while he lost interest, threw a few tantrums, and found a playground that he didn't want to leave.

We had a great trip and definitely wore Tyler out.

This never happens. Ty is not one of those kids who can fall asleep wherever he is. He typically only sleeps in a crib.

When we got back from New Orleans, we had to move to our new place. It was exhausting but we got it done. My mom was here this past weekend to see Tyler and to help us unpack. (This morning she left with Tyler to go to Gigi's house until Wednesday. He's having a blast.) Yesterday, my Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Mike brought over my cousin's kids, Jack and Gracie. Tyler was a little nervous at first but ended up having such a great time with them. We walked across the street to the playground. Jack and Grace just took Tyler's hands as they walked there. It was just about the cutest thing ever.

Once Jack let go of Tyler's hand and started running toward the park, Ty had to follow. As they ran there, Jack yelled out, "Here I come!" He ran straight past the playground and on to the baseball diamond. Tyler carried his tee and ball all the way out there.

Jack hit the ball and started running the bases. So, we told Tyler to run the bases with him.

Jack probably ran the bases 10 times. After a while, Tyler just ran around the field, kicking the ball around. Maybe he'll be more of a soccer player?

We bribed them all with popsicles to get them to leave the park. It was Tyler's first popsicle and he loved it.

Tyler Update:

He is learning so much and doing so many new things! His napping schedule has been very back and forth for a while, but I think he's definitely only taking one nap a day from now on. He's eating a little better, but is still very picky. He responds to our questions with "Yes" or "No" and he understands SO much of what we say. He's currently favoring his 3 short Winnie the Pooh books and he still loves his show, "Ah-Ah" (Curious George).

Pregnancy Update:

I am now 16.5 weeks pregnant and this past week I really just started to feel good and energized, and I have started to see some belly growth. Here I am at 14 weeks (I'll take another one in another week or so):

I haven't felt the baby move yet, but sometimes I feel things and wonder, "Did I just feel something?" So, hopefully I will be feeling him/her soon!

Fourth of July Weekend

I know it has been about a month since I've posted anything on this blog, but let me explain. This pregnancy is MUCH different than the last one. I'll be 14 weeks on Thursday. Matt says that I am always some sort of combination of three things: 1. Tired 2. Sick 3. Hungry. And he's right. Weeks 7, 8, and 9 were the worst, but I'm still not feeling well and definitely not back to feeling like myself. Somehow I've lost about 5 lbs, even though I eat 24/7. I'm not showing yet, but I'll be sure to post a belly picture when I am. So, that's my excuse for not blogging. I don't feel like doing anything, ever. Matt has been taking such good care of me. He's amazing! He constantly goes above and beyond for me and for Tyler and I've felt so loved by him. Thank you, Scroggy!

Here is an updated ultrasound of Baby Scroggy #2 at 12 weeks:

scan0001

We had this one done at the specialist's office, and it turns out that I do NOT have a heart-shaped uterus and I have both kidneys (Having a bicornuate uterus and having only one kidney can be related), so it seems that there is nothing to worry about. We will go back there for one more visit, to have our 19 week ultrasound and to make sure the baby has both kidneys. We also find out whether it's a girl or boy, so we're really looking forward to August 25th!

We had an eventful July 4th weekend. Tyler's Nana and Papa came to visit! We had a great time being with them and it was so great to see Tyler spend time with them. We went to the pool a couple of times, went out to eat (Tyler did very well at most of the restaurants, too...It was weird!), played outside with bubbles and spent some time at Funstation Jr., an indoor arcade/bounce house place.

Tyler loved Funstation Jr. He would just run around as fast as he could, finding balls to throw and things to look at. As you can see from the pictures, he would hand us the balls for the games. He hated the bounce houses...Matt put him in one and he immediately started crying and saying, "Out! Out!"

Matt's parents left on Sunday and my parents came over on Monday. We had a great time with them too. We took Tyler back to the arcade where he learned how to play the basketball game if his dad held him up. He also learned how to put tokens in, push the start button, play and then collect tickets when he was done. What a cutie!

We've decided to take Tyler back to his 2 naps per day schedule. He wasn't doing that well with just one nap. So now we just make sure that he only naps for an hour during his morning nap. He says so many new words (including "no"), I can't even list them all. His favorite T.V. show is Curious George, which he calls "Ah-Ah" (because the monkey says "ah-ah"). He's an extremely picky eater which makes meal time my least favorite part of the day. Other than snack food and fruit, all he will eat is (IF I'm lucky): Home made macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, lunch meat, peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches.

Also, Tyler LOVES bugs! Matt found this huge beetle at work one night, drove all the way home with it in his hand and put it in Tyler's bug cage. Ty was so happy and kept saying "bug!" and "beeple!"

The week after July 4th, I took Tyler to Jacksonville to spend the weekend with my friends Jessica, Corrie and Jenn. I'm currently having some computer space issues and I can't get all the pictures uploaded. I will include all that in the next post.

We are also visiting New Orleans this weekend for the first time. We're planning to take Tyler to the aquarium, the insectarium and maybe the zoo.
