Cousins Weekend in Eastpoint

For the past few years, I get together with my cousins, Colleen and Lindsay, once a year at our grandma's house. This year, we brought Tyler and Benedict. They were SO well behaved and we all had such a fabulous weekend. Tyler was SO happy to be at his Gigi's house. He was so fun and silly the entire weekend. On Friday we played outside and inside with the boys. We had dinner with our grandma and then after putting the kids to bed, we watched the sunset and stayed up late talking. On Saturday morning we took the boys to the beach. Benny just relaxed under an umbrella, and Tyler worked on scooping sand into his bucket. Tyler has been to the beach many times and was always a little scared of the water. Not this time! He would approach the water and laugh whenever the waves crashed in. I could hardly keep him up on the beach because he kept wanting to go swimming. When we got back to the house, Aunt Cheryl was there and we had lunch before putting the boys down for a nap. All three of us got to take a nap because Cheryl watched the boys for us when they woke up. After getting the kids to bed that night, we went out to eat in Appalachicola at The Owl Cafe. It was wonderful to be together with no distractions. Cheryl let us all sleep in on Sunday morning and then we all drank our coffee out back with a wonderful view. I had such a great time with my best friends and loved seeing them with Tyler. Tyler and Lindsay were really able to bond and he loved her! He called her "Lin Lin". Every morning, the first thing he'd say was "Lin Lin?" He loved seeing "Coco" and "baby" too. He just loves my cousins. Thank you, Aunt Cheryl, for babysitting and letting us have time to ourselves...You're amazing. I wish we never had to leave!

Cousins

We had a very unexpected visit on Saturday: The Bakers stopped by for a visit! Megan (Matt's sister), her husband Luke and their three children were driving back home to Dallas from South Carolina. They texted us on Friday to see if they could stop by on Saturday for a couple of hours. I was thrilled to have them here since I hadn't seen them or my nephew, Caleb, in over a year and I had never met my nieces, Grace and Joy. We had a great time catching up and watching the boys play for a while. Then just as they were about to pack up and head out, there was a little incident involving Caleb hitting his head on the corner of a piece of furniture. They ended up having to go to the emergency room while we babysat the twins, and when they got back to our house they decided to stay the night.

Caleb held onto this purple block the entire time we were at the playground.

These twins are the sweetest, most well behaved babies! I babysat them for over two hours and they hardly made a peep. It made me excited about having Baby Scroggy #2; Let's just hope he/she is laid back like them.

The boys were running around and acting crazy after their bath on Saturday night:

They were very busy taking all the magnets off of the fridge and dropping them in Buster's cage.

Matt caught a bug for the boys. Tyler was obsessed:

The injury

Just before the Baker's left town, we tried to get a picture of all the kids. Caleb didn't want to be up ont he couch and Tyler was mad because we took him away from playing with the bug:

The morning after they left, Tyler walked out of his bedroom and said, "Baby?" I think he missed them!

Tyler Update:

-He calls himself by name: "Ty Ty". One day he walked up to Matt, pointed to him and said, "Daddy". Then he pointed to himself and said, "Ty Ty". Ever since, that's what he calls himself.
-He notices his shadow now. He points to it and says "Ty Ty".
-My Aunt Linda and Uncle Max got Tyler a prayer book for his baptism over a year ago. The last page just says "Amen". Last week, we read it to him for a first time in a while and on the last page he said "Amen!"
-He loves watching himself in the iPhone videos we have taken of him. He smiles the whole time and then when a video is over he keeps asking, "More Ty Ty?"
-He can throw a mean tantrum. He screamed for an hour and half the other day for no apparent reason.
-He watched a full length movie (Yogi Bear) last night with Matt and paid close attention the entire time.
-He counts to three, but it sounds like this: "Bye Day Doe!"
-He loves the song "The B-I-B-L-E" and he tries to sing along but sings "B-I-B-I-B".
-Says "Thank you" but not always at the right time. If he brings something to me that I need, after he hands it to me he'll say, "Thank you!"
-If he's looking for something, he can ask where it is. I left the house for an hour last night and he kept saying to Matt, "Where mommy go?"
-I decided to take Tyler's pacifier away on Sunday night. He only uses it when he sleeps, but sometimes I'll have to get up at night to give it back to him, so I decided it was time to quit. Sunday night he screamed for an hour and a half before falling asleep. Before falling asleep for his nap yesterday, he screamed for 45 minutes. Last night, he cried for 35 minutes before falling asleep. Today he didn't cry at all before his nap, and tonight he cried for 20 minutes. On Sunday night before bed I handed him two pacifiers that had the tips cut off. I told him they were broken. He just stared at them and kept saying "Uh-oh...uh-oh..."
-He and I are going to my grandma's house this weekend with my cousins, Lindsay, Colleen and baby Benny (Tyler's second cousin). I keep asking him if he wants to go to Gigi's and he'll say "Yes. Boat! Swing!" He remembers there are boats and a swing at Gigi's.
-Today, Tyler climbed up into Matt's lap and gave him a big hug. Matt said, "I love you." Then, for the first time Tyler said "I love you" back to him! So, they came into my room to tell me what he said. I picked Tyler up and told him to say it, but all he did was hug me (which makes me think he associates the phrase with affection). Then, Matt told him they had to leave the room. So, Tyler leaned in to kiss me. After he kissed me he said, "I love you" and smiled so big like he was so proud of himself. I was SO overwhelmed with love for him. What a cutie!!!

Pregnancy Update:

I'm feeling pretty great and I'm almost 19 weeks along. We go in on Thursday, September 1st for an ultrasound and we will find out if it's a girl or a boy. My belly is growing and I feel him/her kick pretty often!
