Tyler has a tooth!

The first tooth came in a couple of weeks ago (bottom, left), and his next one is about to break through (bottom, right). He has been a little fussy, but is handling it well.

Tyler is now into EVERYTHING and is ALL OVER the apartment. He is pulling his little body from room to room, grunting all the way. He is even sometimes attemping to get up on his knees. Sometimes he'll get all the way up, sway from side to side, and then fall over.

When Tyler turned 6 months, we started feeding him vegetables and fruits. I am making his baby food, which I'm really enjoying (well, the fruits can be quite frustrating) because I like knowing I'm giving Tyler the best thing possible. The only thing he has adamantly rejected so far has been peas. This child would NOT stop gagging, and he would shiver in disgust. So, I'm going to hold off on trying peas again for a few weeks. I'm not positive that he is crazy about pears, but everything else he has liked so far: sweet potatoes, acorn squash, butternut squash, apples, and bananas. Today, I bought a bunch of new fruits and veggies to try, so we'll see how that goes.

Matt has been working a lot (THANK YOU, SCROGGY!), so last weekend Tyler and I drove over to Ponte Vedra Beach to meet up with my parents. He is not handling car trips very well anymore, but we made it! It was SO fun and very relaxing. My parents graciously gave us our own room and they let me sleep in each day. It was wonderful! We took Tyler to the beach for the first time. He cried a little, but after that he just seemed very serious. We took him in the pools too; He liked to splash in the pool and watch the other kids (I mean STARE. It's a good thing kids don't feel uncomfortable by staring babies.). Thank you, Mom and Dad, for a wonderful weekend at the beach!

This weekend, my mom was in Eastpoint visiting my Grandma. So, we took another trip over there just for Friday night. We came home on Saturday afternoon. Again, I was able to sleep in which was MUCH appreciated. We took Tyler downtown Appalachicola, went to some shops, and had lunch. I loved taking him there because that place means so much to me. My mom bought him a baby pool, which we tried out. All Tyler seemed to care about was the leaf floating around in the pool, but it was still cute!

We also got a new car this week! We traded in our 2009 Honda Civic for a 2006 Honda CRV. When we purchased the Civic, we had no idea how much space we would need when Tyler arrived. I love the new car; It's so much more convenient.

Today was Matt's first official Father's Day. Tyler and I let him sleep in while we went to The Fresh Market to pick out some rib eye steaks, his favorite mashed potatoes, and some things to make a salad. When we came home, Matt woke up to Tyler chewing on his gift - FIFA Soccer 2010 for PS3. When Tyler went down for a nap, Matt and I had a nice lunch together. Matt had to work this evening, but I'm glad we got to spend time with him today. He is the hardest working person I know and I am SO thankful for him and all he does for us. He's an amazing father and I am so grateful for him. And, of course, Tyler was wearing this Star Wars onsie today in honor of his Dad (this picture is from a few months ago):


I think he definitely takes after his dad.

It's hard to believe that my baby boy is almost 7 months old. How did this happen?!

On the Move

Tyler is on the move! Just a couple of days ago, he began scooting towards his toys, my cell phone, Buster, or whatever he wanted to get to. Now he's all over the place! I guess they call this the "army crawl"? It's SO fun to watch him learn new things.
He is still taking 3 naps a day and typically sleeps 10-11 hours at night. He is still eating cereal three times each day, and we are going to start him on vegetables soon (maybe tomorrow). He also can sit up for about 20 seconds (max.):


We took yet another roadtrip recently. Matt, Tyler and I drove up to Charleston, SC for Joy and Chris' wedding. It was beautiful:


Tyler did pretty well in the car and did GREAT at the wedding and reception. I had a great weekend with my sister and my family. It was hard to leave everyone, but I will see most of them again in a month for my cousin, Colleen's wedding. I can't wait! Flying

We recently had to fly to Ohio unexpectedly. There was a death in Matt's family, so we found out late on Wednesday night that we would be flying out on Thursday afternoon. So we had to cancel our weekend plans, pack, talk to our bosses, and find a place for Buster to stay in a very short time. We got it all done though, and despite the sad reason for going up there, we had a wonderful time with family. I am so thankful that my in-laws got to see Tyler at this precious age. Tyler did really well on the plane. He slept during most of the flights, but there was a little crying involved. Our last flight on the way home, there was a problem with one of the instruments so we were forced to sit on the plane for over two hours until they had us deboard, and then board another flight.





A few nights before leaving for Ohio, Tyler started rolling over a lot. This was the first time I had actually seen him rolling from his back to his belly, so I was very excited. The first time I saw him roll, he was actually trying to reach Buster:


The next morning after he woke up and ate, I left him on a blanket in his room for about two minutes while I got some coffee. When I returned, he was on the opposite side of the room! I couldn't believe how far he had rolled. Now, a week or so later, I'm completely used to it. I took a picture to capture the distance:


A few days after we got home from Ohio, I had to pack up again to drive with Tyler down to Bradenton so I could be a bridesmaid in my friend Lindsey's wedding.


She is one of my best friends, and I had so much fun being in the wedding. The ceremony was outside at a Bed and Breakfast on the water, and the reception was at a beautiful waterfront restaurant. Thankfully, Matt was able to stay in Tallahassee and work because my mom drove over to take care of Tyler during the wedding events. He got to go swimming for the first time. He seemed okay with it, but not too thrilled.
